There has been repeated coverage regarding Ariel Lin’s brain surgery, yesterday, she addresses the issue to the public for the first time:
Through a brain scan performed last June, she discovered a pituitary tumor, approximately 2 cm in diameter. The tumor was already near the thalamus, the doctor advised surgery to prevent it from spreading to the optic chiasm and affecting vision. This past February, Ariel arranged to have the tumor surgically removed. (The tumor is implied to be benign.)
The experience evoked a sense of fear and put a strain on Ariel and her mother’s health (her mother was reported to have a stroke shortly after her surgery) as well as their relationship. She is said to be in a continuously foul moods post-surgery and ranted to her mother for six days — but the result of which is an alternation on the outlook of life and the handling of relationships.
