American Live-Action of "Cowboy Bebop"
OMFG! Someone kill me now. It's been confirmed: the American live-action movie remake of "Cowboy Bebop" is up and away and going to hit our screens eventually (probably one of the best animanga ever, if not one of the most popular). I was really hoping when the rumours came out last year they would just keep this script locked away and never let it see light again. But the icing on the cake; Keanu Reeves is set to star as Spike Spiegel. It's not that I don't like Keanu - so he doesn't have to many expressions, but "The Matrix" was good - but to play Spike? NO WAY IN HELL! ERGH! To me, but then again I am a Bebop fan, Spike is one of the single most legendary characters. One of those characters that you just have to love. And when you don't love the actor (i.e. he has nothing to offer to the role) it's going to be hard to play the part.
And because they haven't already gone and fucked up another great Japanese anime - Dragonball Z - the Americans have to do it again. Haven't they heard of culture clash. Just stick to your own plots. The only reason I'm going to see Dragonball is coz James Marsters landed a role and I quite like Emmy Rossum (although Phantom of the Opera → Dragonball, is a rather big change). I've never actually seen Justin Chatwin works, but Jamie Chung, don't really like her at all. I saw her in the short series "Samurai Girl", which apart from the screenpaly disaster, was an epic FAIL!
